Happy International Women’s Month! As you know by now, I’m a strong supporter of women, women’s achievements and female empowerment. This month, PL is celebrating International Women’s Day (Friday 8 March), an exciting collaboration with Soapsmith, I’ll introduce you to new enticing collections AND it’s Mother’s Day (Sunday 31 March). Get ready, there’s A LOT of info coming…
International Women’s Day
International Women’s Day is a global day that celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women – while also marking a call to action for accelerating gender balance.
This year it’s all about building a gender-balanced world with the theme #BalanceforBetter. Together we can strive for a gender-balanced boardroom, a gender-balanced government, gender-balanced media coverage, a gender-balance of employees, more gender-balance in wealth…the list goes on. This balance is essential for economies and communities to thrive.
The first International Women’s Day occurred in 1911 and was supported by over one million people. IWD is not country, group or organization specific, it belongs to ALL groups collectively everywhere. Will you be striking the #BalanceforBetter pose on Friday?
Female Founders Collaboration
Following on from IWD, celebrating women in business is also close to my heart. I met fellow female founder, Samantha Jameson, while both of us were attending the Female Founders Programme carried out at Enterprise Enfield. We are both passionate about what we do, hence the reason we decided to join forces for IWD and help more women out there feel fabulous in their own skin. Here’s a little introduction to Sam and Soapsmith.
Founded in 2012, Sam spent the first two years with her team of artisans perfecting traditional handcrafted soap-making methods and blending them up with all sorts of miraculous natural oils and evocative scents. Then came their full signature collection inspired by London’s most characterful places with nine evocative scents – soon followed by nourishing body butter melts, fragrant lotions, blissful bath soaks and body washes – all brimming with exceptional ingredients and not a paraben in sight.
Today Soapsmith’s East London workshop pulsates with a busy team buzz of fearless fragrance lovers, natural ingredient explorers and skilled old-school artisans – a place where life is loved and pampering is paramount, where the highest grade essential oils fill the air and the richest shea & cocoa butters and plant oils take skin to new levels of softness.

As we approach the warmer weather, PL says ‘Hello Gorgeous’ to some fabulously sexy new collections. Firstly, a seductive basque known as Chalfont has the honour of appearing in our Deluxe package. A modern piece with a classic feel, this basque combines delicate eyelash fringed lace with chic, superfine soft mesh. The luxurious soft cup offers a relaxed silhouette, whilst soft side boning in the body of the basque maintains structure and support. The back of the basque gives a corseted look, with a long panel of hook and eye fastenings for the perfect fit. The suspender straps are adjustable, and end in satin ribbon flashes for a complete, decadent feel.
A new luxury addition to our Divine package is London, a fun and floaty chemise, using mesh and directional strapping for a modern take on the classic lingerie look. The body of the chemise is crafted from fine mesh, giving a sheer, spun-sugar look to this lovely piece. This effect continues on the cups, with soft strapping in contrasting colour adding a directional feel and leading up to satin, adjustable shoulder straps. A slim elasticated strap under the cups provides support and shape, with a satin piping hem adding the final touch. A light and pretty chemise.
Both available for a limited time only. Be quick! SUBSCRIBE NOW
One of the greatest honours a woman can have is motherhood.
My childhood memories of my mum are wonderful. I’m proud to say we are great friends and our relationship has become stronger the older I get. Good work ethics and a sense of achievement were instilled into me from a young age. She didn’t have an easy time of it, but I know our challenges have made me the woman I am today.
One of my fondest memories as a teenager was driving north to Silverdale together and browsing all the lingerie in the Bendon factory shop. This is where my love for lingerie began. Her advice was to always make sure I have lovely undies even though financially, she couldn’t apply this to herself. To this day, she remains the funniest woman I’ll ever know. Thanks mum xx
Happy Mother’s Day to all the fabulous mums out there. May you be surrounded by love every day and always.
